Comittee
The Acadieville Historical Comittee
researches and promotes interest in the history of Acadieville. The
members of the committee are: Mathilda Richard, my brother Émile
Babineau and his wife Doris (née Goguen), and myself, Yvon Babineau.
Mathilda and I work on genealogy and conduct research on the cemetery.
Émile and Doris collect photos and search old newspapers to find
articles mentioning Acadieville and its inhabitants.
Index of church records
Our most recent achievement is the creation of
an index of the four church registers. The index makes it possible to
find in one paragraph all the information regarding the baptism,
marriage and death of a particular person. A computer program
designed for the parish facilitates searches and printing of
certificates.
This is a gift from the Historical Comittee to the
community. Below you can see Mathilda and myself presenting the index
to Father Bourgeois in June 2000.
