The Founders Monument

This monument was erected in 1971 for de centennial festivities of the parish. Here is a translation of what is written: Founders Tribute. Here was celebrated the first mass by Mgr. M.-F. Richard in 1871 on the property of Mr. Clément Daigle. Founding families are also listed: Babineau, Barrieau, Bordage, Chavarie, Caissie, Daigle, Doiron (Gould), Gallant, Goguen, Johnson, LeBlanc, Maillet, Ouellette, Poirier, Richard, Robichaud et Vautour.
This is the where Mgr. Richard celebrated a mass for the first time in a house made of sawed lumber, which was the new home of Clément Daigle and Ludivine Goguen. The first mass was said in 1871 in the home of Dominique Gallant. It is at the site of this monument that he announced the construction of a church in march 1873. This church was built the same year (1873) just north of the existing church on the other side of the brook. It was the very first church Mgr. Richard built. It is still standing, it is part of the actual church which now serves as a chapel.
It is to be noted that the founders left Saint Louis on the 9th of December 1868 after celebrating a mass in their honour the day before, the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Acadieville patron is the Immaculate Conception.
